Fungicidal
The word fungicidal refers to therapeutic agents - including natural substances such as herbs, oils, or essences, or conventional pharmaceutical drugs, that kill or destroy fungal infections. Some text describe the action of fungicidal agents as "combating or preventing" fungal infections.
The meaning of the term fungicidal is easily remembered from its form:
- The -cidal part of the word refers to the fact that this agent kills/destroys something, and
- the fungi- part of the word indicates that the something it kills is "fungi".
Note that another term whose meaning is the same as fungicidal is antifungal.
