Create a Spa Life For Healthier Living

According to the Labour Force Survey (LFS) for 2009/10 “an estimated 1.3 million people who had worked in the last 12 months suffered from ill health which they thought was work related”, stress, depression or anxiety accounting for over 400,000 of cases.

Between 1990 and 2009/10 comprehensive data based on the LFS revealed that the prevalence of stress-related illness rose.

In an ever increasingly hectic world, we all love to indulge and pamper ourselves now and again. There's nothing better than a trip to a spa for a relaxing massage, sauna or Jacuzzi.

The association between bathing and wellbeing is not a new phenomenon. In fact even the Jacuzzi whirlpool bath was invented with health in mind. In 1956 the Jacuzzi brothers set out to treat a family member’s arthritis with a hydrotherapy pump and a small niche business was born. The portable pump was sold to hospitals and schools and the rest is history.

Considering that medical experts cite stress as the number one factor in illnesses, stress relief is the main priority of most spa seekers. So why not incorporte this at home as part of healthy living?

Far more than indulgence or beautification, a home spa can:

  • enhance our sense of wellbeing
  • increase the body’s energy flow
  • improve flexibility of our body
  • aid emotional distress
  • reduce the effects of ageing
  • soothe tired muscles
  • tone and nourish the skin
  • detoxify our body
  • stimulate circulation
  • reduce insomnia, stress and fatigue

Above all – the power of water and relaxation makes us feel good.

Creating a home spa doesn’t have to be expensive. When planning your bathroom combine textures, colours and materials like dark woods, stone & glass with candles, music and a seating area.  You don’t need a big bathroom either, think how tiny most spa treatment rooms are!

Want To Create A Fabulous Home Spa Without Refurbishing:
  1. Choose a time when you won’t be disturbed
  2. Play your favourite CD in the bedroom as you get ready.
