Temporal bones

The temporal bones are among the cranial bones of the head.
Location:
The temporal bones are located:
- at the sides of the skull
- below the parietal bones, and
- above and behind the ears.
Function(s):
- Mechanical protection of the brain, which is a function that the temporal bones perform in conjunction with other bones of the skull.
