The biceps brachii are a pair of muscles located in each of the upper-arms of the human body.

These upper-arm muscles are used in many sports such as rowing, boxing, rugby and climbing.

Origin, Insertion and Actions of the Biceps Brachii muscles:

Points of Origin:

Short head:

Tip of the coracoid process of scapula (bone)

Long head:

Supraglenoid tubercle of scapula

Point of Insertion:

Via strong tendon to radial tuberosity and bicipital aponeurosis

Actions:

Strong flexor and supinator of foremarm
Weakly abducts (long head)the shoulder
Weakly adducts (short head) the shoulder
