The aim of this conference is to promote a better understanding of the relationship between food and poverty on the Island of Ireland. It will showcase the results of two safefood funded projects:

* Decent Food for All – Food Poverty and Obesity: A Broader Approach for a more Balanced Diet (Dr. Kevin Balanda, Institute of Public Health) and
* Diet, Nutrient Intake and Attitudes among disadvantaged groups on the Island of Ireland (Dr. John Kearney & Dr. Dan McCartney, Dublin Institute of Technology)

The conference will be a dynamic forum featuring a number of presentations,workshops, panel discussions, debate and networking opportunities. The workshops will be centered around the theme of how current evidence on food poverty can be used to tackle the issue at community level.

The conference is aimed at those with an interest in food poverty including community groups, health professionals, policy advocators and makers, and those involved in research.
