Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the sign of the zodiac for those born during 23 November - 21 December.

People born during this time are said to have been 'born under the [astrological] sign of Sagittarius' and are sometimes referred to as 'Sagittarian' or 'Sagittarians'. They are also referred to or written about as simply 'Sagittarius Man', 'Sagittarius Woman', 'Sagittarius Child' and so on.

Sagittarius is one of the three "Fire Signs", the other two being Aries and Leo. It is traditionally referred to and depicted as the 'archer'. Although sometimes shown as a male figure of an archer or even just as an arrow poised in or leaving a bow, sagittarius is most commonly depicted as a centaur, a mythological creature with the torso and upper-body of a man replacing the neck and head on the body of a horse. The centaur is, of course, shown with a bow and arrow, typically in the act of preparing to release the arrow. The simple black line symbol shown here is a widely used representation of the astrological sign of Sagittarius.

Sagittarians become bored and restless when surrounded by people or circumstances in which they have no interest. When this happens they often find ways to "disappear" (physically or mentally). They are not necessarily the best students as many sagittarians prefer to learn things on their own - through travel and experience - rather than in structured classroom environments or through routine work assignments.

Sagittarians tend to be independent and can be difficult to pin down for long. Some say that sagittarius is the sign of the bachelor, which is consistent with their nature. In many ways even married sagittarians seek to maintain some aspect of personal independence. However, most of them also enjoy generous natures and friendly optimistic personalities. They are interested in knowing everyone and going everywhere.

Sagittarians are often enthusiastic sportsmen and sportswomen who enjoy many types of physically challenging activities.
